MODEL CAR RACING WORKSHOP

The July Project 2008.

Halifax Track were delighted to be involved as part of the activities for the July Project, Calderdale's only festival for young people. Funding was made available to allow the purchase of three nitro cars and the hire of 6 electric cars which were used to great effect on Wednesday, July 9. In all 23 young people (and a couple of adults) took advantage of the evening to come to the track. At first they were shown the differences between the types of car we had on site, they then took turns to drive around, all the while being shown driving techniques by members of the club who gave their time to stand and share their interest. When speaking to the youngsters and their parents, all had a great time and some even expressed an interest in buying their own cars and becoming members of the club. To all those members of the club who gave up their time to come to the track and help, thanks very much to each and every one of you, I won't mention names, you know who you are, but thanks once again. As we now have the ownership of the cars, it's hoped to hold a similar event in August. Full details will be given in a few days time when I've contacted the committee.
